EMI Care and its Importance

Updated: Mar 6, 2023

Elderly Mentally Infirm (EMI) care home refers to taking care of older individuals with challenges with their emotional well-being. Oftentimes they struggle with a type of dementia, including Alzheimer’s. EMI care homes are necessary when a person can no longer take care of themselves for the duration of a day. Someone with dementia will need more support over time, so an EMI care home is a perfect fit for these needs.

Dementia is often a difficult disease to provide care services for, however, it is important that the right care is given and in the correct fashion. At some care homes, individuals with dementia are placed with caregivers with little to no experience in caring for those with dementia or similar diseases. This is a concerning fact and nobody with dementia should have to be left in the hands of someone who is not qualified in the position. It is important for these caregivers to be given the proper training in order for residents to be safe and also feel at home.

Those with dementia also benefit from doing activities they normally enjoy. At Bromson Hill Nursing Home we develop a close bond with all of our residents by offering daily special activities that they enjoy.
